Betrayal Claims and Casting Changes
Actor Terrence Howard, who portrayed James Rhodes in the first "Iron Man" film, has claimed that he was betrayed by his co-star, Robert Downey Jr., and the studio. He alleges that he was initially promised a three-film deal, but after the success of the first movie, he was informed that his salary would be significantly reduced due to Downey Jr.'s increased compensation.
Reason for Casting Change
Howard's claims have been denied by both Downey Jr. and Marvel Studios. The studio stated that the casting change was made due to creative reasons and not financial ones. Don Cheadle ultimately replaced Howard in the role of War Machine in subsequent "Iron Man" films.
